Marcos moves Noble's glass

Windows and mirrors engineered by Marcos

Nobles get mirror and window systems
Nobles get mirror and window systems
Marcos Engineering – yes, that Marcos – has announced its latest aftermarket product, the PowerGlide drop glass and remote mirror system. The system delivers full power windows and mirrors to Noble sports cars.

Precision engineered and totally bespoke, it uses high efficiency, lightweight electric motors. These deliver a wind-down time of under three seconds, and the entire system-- drop glass windows and power mirrors – weighs only 4Kg. According to Marcos, smooth, reliable operation is delivered with custom fabricated mechanisms and subsystems. The wiring system is a custom, modular harness that integrates seamlessly with existing in car wiring via professional connectors. A bespoke switch panel provides user friendly and easily accessible control.

The company’s PowerGlide System costs £1,299 for the PowerGlide window system and £1,399 for the remote mirrors. Both systems can be purchased together as the PowerGlide II package for £2,499. All pricing includes full installation and customer pick-up and drop-off from Warwick Parkway Train station. All PowerGlide products come with a one year unconditional guarantee and a two year guarantee on the electric motors.

Comment

"I wouldn't trust just anybody with my Noble, but from day one I knew my car was in the best of hands with the expert team from Marcos. The system looks as if it was fitted on the production line. Looking at it, it's hard to imagine it hasn't always been part of the car", said Dennis Clarke, a Noble owner and PHer who has the PowerGlide System installed on his M12. “Marcos have used equipment of the highest standard. The window mechanism operates smoothly and effortlessly and in my opinion has improved the sound proofing of the car with a tighter window shut position. The electric mirrors are simple to operate and give great position hold. I love the results and I'm very happy.”

“Our engineering team at Marcos Engineering is extremely talented and customer driven”, said Marcos boss Tony Stelliga. “With the repeated requests for this system from our customers, we decided to leverage off of our internal development and deliver a solution to the market – and the results are very impressive”.

Blimey I'll wind mine thanks.

Hate to repeat myself but my daily driver is a BMW......so don't understand mirrors, indicators, fog lights.

Just had a closer look at the the Marcos website - Noble aftermarket windows, mirrors and afterburner lights! Check out the photos - nice job but pricey!

BTW, can't recall but does the M15 have leccy windows and mirrors?

£2,499 for electric mirrors and windows? I bought an entire car for less than that AND it came with one-touch electric windows and folding electric mirrors.

I can't see many Noble customers going for it.

As people that know me I need all the exercise I can get, so I think I'll be passing on that particular cost!

Pricey as people have said, but would be cheaper if incorporated into car design. I know the car is meant to be no frills (you get thrills instead of frills) but would have been good as an option with a new car.

Really nice idea, but you need pretty deep pockets for it!!

Are the mirrors just the standard ones??

Spoke to Tony about this last night, and the order book is strong.

If you think about it there will be a suprising amount of labour in there to do the conversion. If anyone has followed the "how to take a door apart" guide on my website you'll find it takes a good few hours to even get half way to getting all the bits out.

Classic supply and demand means it's a costly option, but hey, if you are that bothered about the manual parts then just over £2k on a £55-60k car is hardly the end of the world.

Me, a) I need the exercise , and b) I'm not that fussed and follow the Colin Chapman thoughts about needs and weight....

Wing Mirrors are just the electric versions of the standard rover units!!!
Seems a LOT of cash for a few relays some wiring and a couple of bits from the rover parts bin!! How many hours labour can it take!!
This just goes to prove that some people just have too much money to waste.
£1200 just to move a couple of mirrors maybe a few times a year when you can reach both from the drivers seat. Surley the money would be better spent on making the thing perform/look better. Just my 2p worth.

Allowing for 2 wind-up-and-down movements of the windows and assuming you keep the car for a year after purchasing the electric windows, it works out at 89p per wind-up.

Now that's what I'd call a wind-up.

I must have been in a less froogle mood when I bought the car!
Hmmm...

Seems way steep to me, bearing in mind when I changed my mirros for the Noblemods ones it took 1 hour to do the first one (complete) and 45 minutes for the second. They're charging an awful lot to put in the motors, relays and wiring.

Can we not just buy the parts and do it ourselves sans warranty? - I've lost count of the number of times I have taken my doors apart - it's a doddle.

I wonder if they get rid of the mirror wobble as well?

No-one has asked the question...do they go down all the way after the conversion?

Not unless they have changed the glass - there is not enough room...

I was in a Mercedes Maybach the other day and they have a very cool gadget indeed. Between the rear 'cabin' and the front is a glass divide that goes up and down. When it's up, there's a button in the back that turns it from clear to frosted instantly using some sort of chemical/electrical wizardry I suspect. Now that would be cool for the side windows of a Noble when some chav's trying to take a picture with his phone
