Going down the NSL A90, 3 cars in front and a van. SO get's to a long straight and no-one moves to overtake. I make my move - 80ish, 1st car, 2nd car, then I start to look at the van. Hmm it's got stripes on the back doors. Motorway maintenance or a breakdown truck maybe. 3rd car, now almost alongside this white van, getting a bit concerned now as I begin to read a sign on the side. Crimestoppers it says. OH FECK. So I creep by it and pass about 65ish. No blue lights, start to pull away at about 64ish. No lights, no pull. Nothing.

Can I get done? Can the word of the polis driver be taken as absolute proof of my speeding? Do I just wait for sumfin in the post?

NSL limit should be 70 so you should be OK I doubt they could judge your speed correctly looking through their mirrors.

Scots Law requires corroboration. If van single manned, no panic. If riding two up, becomes a question of what they can prove.

1. Is their van speedo calibrated ? Very unlikely
2. Whilst within a moving vehicle who's speed is not accurately known, are they credible witnesses as to the speed of any other vehicle ? I wouldn't accept they knew what speed they were doing, far less any other vehicle.

Summary, you might be stopped for the hell and inconvenience of it at the time. If not, expect to hear no more about it.

So am I, it was the A96. A90, A96, A98 to Buckie and back. They all just blur into one another. I could've gone the A9 but it was -17 or so in Aviemore that night so I thought better of it.

Cheers Bob, again. Appreciate it.
