after spending hours through the forums (and coming up with nowt) i have decided to recarpet my wedge myself, anyway i have ripped out the carpets with no problems bought some glue and 50 quids worth of carpet. iLL be damned if im gonna pay 600 quid to a trimmer or 200 for someone just to cut out the pattern which iLL be sending them anyway. so i am going to try myself. let you know how i get on.
after taking out the carpets i am left with some rotten foam insulation does anyone know where to buy this stuff or something similar? cheers jay

I'm not so sure that the original spec is best - really you want waterproof foam.

I concurr, get rid of the open cell foam, it only promotes damp, and poor demisting in the car. Best off using closed cell foam, aka camping sleep mats. You should be able to do the whole car quite cheaply. Also hot glue works well on this stuff.

Jay, I spent days driving round trying to find the original spec foam, gave up eventually and used some underfelt type stuff that was recommended by the trimmers. I have got half a roll left, it's yours if you want it, just drop me an email. I see from your profile you are also in Manchester. I fitted all my own carpets, just had the binding done on some of the edges. Cheers Steve

Remember to pair up your patterns on the carpet before cutting otherwise the grain will be in opposite directions...
