Right time for spraying

My GTR kit's going to be arriving from the factory soon, with bodywork prefitted in a lovely(not)grey colour - ready for spraying met silver.

When's the easiest time to have the paint job done - at the beginning? (ie just bodywork), final fit before glass etc goes in, or final car? At 2000 squid for the spray, I want to get right!

Hi Liam,

Best to spray almost at the end of the build before the glass goes in, or even once finished.

From experience, doing it before makes it hard to get a good panel match and even harder to polish. Not to mention the almost inevitable workshop-rash that it will get!

I did mine after the pre-fit, but only because it required a complete colour change and I didn't want any hidden red bits under my pearl blue bodywork!

Red to blue ?! Thats what I call a change of mind!!

Had sort of come to the same thoughts re when to spray...guess this means I have to live with dull grey for a few months during build!
