how hot is your bonnet?

got home after a quickish blast in moderate traffic today and the bonnet felt hot. popped bonnet to let hot air out and it certainly, by instinct, felt hot.

but is this farily normal?

the temp gauge wasn't reading anything bad, around 90degrees once parked. recently filled coolent tank.

i noticed when i turned ignition on (some two hours later) to clean area around petrol cap the fans still activated! i have a feeling this isn't good

Yeh ,two eggs , two rashers and and George Foreman eat your heart out.
The little channel just behind the radiator is for the fat to gather in, see Griffs are very healthy....








Serioulsy, the bonnet does get VeRY hot.

Oh they get hot.

Its not unusual to see a mirage in the heat haze whilst blatting down the motorway. I once saw a Boxter in front of me but in a flash it disappeared and then reappeared in my rear view mirror!

Maybe it was'nt a mirage?

No such problem with mine!

Its a carbon fibre aftermarket copy complete with moulded in louvres above the manifolds result=no high underbonnet temps!

I'm told by a former owner that only two of these items exist at present,one on mine the other on a Griff racer!

I can try to find out who made/makes them if anyone is interested!

I know I have strayed from the Chim forum but, on measuring my bonnet temperature the other week using a digital thermometer (I was bored) it read 50 degrees C. (It was around 10 degrees outside.) Which is quite hot really.

Last year at the Rockingham Thunder, i saw a Griff with a modified bonnet.
It had chim style vents running up each side, it looked really good to.
Anybody know who's this was and where it was made?
