not an enthralling question, but if anyone can help....

need to change the length of a roof mounted radio aerial on a Renault Scenic so I can get the vehicle under a (low) car port...

anyone know if you can swap unscrew and swap from one car to another?

It may be possible to swap one from one of the other renaults in the range, but if ya already have the shortest one fitted, itll probably affect the reception if it goes any shorter.

we are just about to buy the car... it does everything we want... so rejecting it because of the poxy aerial seems a bit ridiculous...

I'm hoping that I can just unscrew the long aerial that's fitted, and persuade a shorter one to go ino the same boss...

Had this on a Focus. I spoke to Ford about it and they only made one aerial for the car I had, who's radio had RDS and all the other stuff. Make sure any new aerial you get is compatible with the extras on the radio. I don't understand the techie bit of this but it does seem to make a difference.

On the Scenics I've seen the aerial is on a moveable mount, so you can fold it down flat to the roof.

unfortunately the wind deflector for the sunroof gets in the way - and the end of the aerial still ends up a good few inches above the roof....bugger.

You could try cutting the ariel down to size and fitting an inline signal booster

A pair of pliers should do the job. Did it on my bother's saxo when pissed (it was his idea, didn't like the way it smacked up and down on the car's roof at speed), and it still picks up the radio ok....
