Anyone used Boots?
Discussion
Wifey came home with a Boots picture CD. Wanted me to copy some pics from it and print off. Never seen a Cd like this before, so was v. curious. What a load of crap!
You have to download a heap of Boots software from the cd, couldn't find or open a folder with just the pics in. Then you have to view the pics from within the Boots software, which is just absolutely awful! Then I find that the pics on the cd are all about 50kbs only, so are little more than thumbprints.
Just out of interest, if you use Boots developing service can you have the pics copied onto the cd at full size?
Also, I need to have some more pics printed, my printer is a bit old now, who is the easiest/best to use in the high street? Would like to get them done this weekend, which rules out online printing.

Mike, cant help you there, but for online printing I have been using www.photobox.co.uk recently, excellent results, and easy to use. I gave up on on-line Jessops, just toooooo complicated, sounds like the same with Boots.
Its a few years since I had anything done there but as I remember the high street photo CDs had a few different directories on them, one had thumbnail sized images, them small, medium, and finally large (which was about 1500x1000 pixels). I used to pay the 2 quid extra and get the 3000x2000 pixel super large/high quality images.
The pics were all stored as jpegs so that you could read them with just about any software. I doubt that they would have gone to all the trouble of using a proprietary method of encoding the images in another way. How about trying some image recovery software on the disk to see what happens ?
