Hi,
Have a search for "Insurance" in the Forum history and you'll find loads of information.. the two main favourites are Mannings and Sunninghill I reckon.. (I'm with Mannings)

Cheers,
Matt.

I too was with Mannings...until I discovered Sunninghills (or rather Jezer suggested them - cheers mate!)

Mannings: 10% increase on last year's premium making it £537.45 with £300 excess and 7000 miles limited use.

Sunninghills: £435.37 with £250 excess and unlimited mileage.
With 6K limited mileage it dropped to £398.29.
Chosing a £500 excess is an option to reduce the premium even more.

Whilst searching companies within Sprint - one so=called 'specialist' company quoted me £775

It's difficult to compare insurance quotes on here, as people never specify exactly what they're getting.

e.g. I'm up for renewal now, and my best quote has been from Tescos.

Sunninghill were about a third more expensive, and I've been put off Mannings by the number of difficulties that people I know have experienced. That's just my opinion, and YMMV.

Anyway:
I'm 30
The car is garaged overnight
Value at £19k
Mileage 8k (this is expected mileage, but not limited)
8 years no claims
No convictions in the last 5 years
My partner as additional driver
Protected no claims
Legal cover
£375 excess

Comes in at just under £750.

Hope that helps.

But assuming that everyone is giving the same info to each company, the comparison is useful and valid. Anyway, I thought my quote was good.

True. I can't figure out why mine is so much more expensive than yours, though. Are you an old git?

I prefer the word 'experienced'
I dunno - the young'uns of today : oldgitsmileyface:
Let's say that I even asked SAGA for a quote .... and they were able to better some TVR specialists!

Ahh... fair enough.
I guess I've suffered the usual expectation with insurance - you know, when you reach 25 you expect it to drop, then you get x years no-claims and expect it to drop, then your points go off your licence and you expect it to drop, and you've completed the first year owning a high performance car without writing it off and expect it to drop.
But it never does....

Well, it's gone down by about £100, but I was expecting it to drop by more.

Tough ain't it?
I too thought that after a year without hitting anything might result in a reduction...but no - a 10% increase instead - hence the lookaround.

Insurance companies - don't ya just love 'em?

BTW - when I called my insurer and informed them that I shall not be renewing my policy with them 'cos I wasn't too impressed by the 10% increase, they asked me whether I had called them to discuss it...why should I...when they told me in their letter that they were satisfied their quote was competitive and 'well below the market norm'! There was no suggestion that there was room for negotiation.
I realise that calling them might have resulted in a reduction, but why hike it up by 10%, upset your customers when you are prepared to reduce it if they complain!

I always challenge the quote at renewal. Very often they reduce the premium. I think I may have Scottish blood in me somewhere...

Have you tried Classicline Insurance 01455 891330 they advertise in Sprint

Anyway had my 4L Chimaera (1997) a year now and phoned round for insurance.
details quoted were - full ncb - no points/accidents age 31 near reading - car garaged under 5K miles pa & ride drive course completed.
quotes I had back were cheaper than last years £960 from direct line.

Direct Line 2003 renewal - £900
Sunninghill - £650
Mannings - £625
Classicline - £447 + £50 for NCB Protection

So I halved last years quote & this is the cheapest ins quote i have ever paid on any car.

Just goe's to show a few phone calls can save you an shed load of cash.

So the other £450 I save I now have for some mods - maybe the zertec rear lights...

Hi,
Regarding your backlight, a fellow PH'er had a similar problem a couple of week ago try this post:-

As for holding it in position, try masking tape.
Hope this helps.
Big Al.
