Indicator stalk parted company with car

Title says it all really! There is the wire connected to the bottom of the stalk which is fine so the hazards still work. I found a small plastic barrel and a black plactic ring in the footwell. What do i do cos I would realy rather not drive her without indicators.

Also, and I have no idea if this is connected bt the doors would not open to let me out today. After I used the emrgency release though it worked fine but happened a couple of times.

Any advice?

I had my indicator stalk come away a couple of times. There is just a screw that goes through a spring to screw it back in place.
If you lay on your back with your head in the footwell, you should be able to see where it goes. Be careful when you put it back in position though that you don't damage the little springs on the microswitches. The second time mine came off I put it all back to find I had no right turn indicator!!

Don't screw it back in with too much force either. It has to be loose enough to allow the stalk to move. This is what the spring is for, to apply some tension.

Also, put a tiny dab of threadlock on the bolt to stop it coming out again.

I guarantee you'll have an aching back and your arms and neck will hurt when your done!!

Same thing happened to me, 9 months back now, I'd just bought the car & 10 miles into ownership the indicator stalk fell off & was dangling about for the 200 mile trip home! I thought "welcome to TVR ownership", fortunately I had no more misshaps for the rest of the journey. I seem to remember the fix was an easy one when I got home & I've never looked back since!
