ICE info needed

looking to change front speakers.

the previous owner fitted a decent sony stereo but you can hardly hear the bloody thing and i'm wondering if the front sepakers have just packed in.

i have a similar stereo (albeit with improved speakers) in the TT and the sound is totally different and much louder.

firstly, how hard are front speakers to fit? can they just be swapped with the old ones or am i going to have to pull the whole radio out and rewire etc?

secondly, is low noise common for the TVR? does it need more amplification? will a change in speaker actually change much?

Hi G-boy just had a new ice upgrade in my car from Carl at Car and Bike instalations.

He fitted MB QUART DKE 113 in the front and Alpine 6 x 9 SPE-6903 in the rear with a pioneer head unit the result is out of this world and this chap is the expert.

He came to my place to fit it all as well as several electrical up grades.

Carl is a real nice guy who has worked on TVR's for years and as far as i am concernd he is the only person who will ever work on my motor as far as electrical work goes.

He is also a very talented musician to boot.

I put new front speakers in my Griff but found it hard to get the same size speakers so ended up with a slightly smaller set, they are very easy to change, just undo the 4 screws holding them in and pull the wires off the back. I have also fitted a pair of 8” Pioneer speakers in the rear and these make a huge difference, well worth it.

Why waste your driving time listening to CDs when you can do that anytime. The best music by far comes from the V8 under the bonnet

sounds great! whereabouts is carl based?

doubt he'd come to mine as I only want speakers installed. but i'd definitely go to him if not too far. don't want any old kid meddling with the problematic dash

Oddly I found my car had four speakers, a radio, tape and CD player fitted when I got it. Couldn’t figure out what they were for so put them in a box in the loft. Seemed a far better place for them.

Got a pioneer CD player n two big Kenwood amps,JBL speakers in mine.... CD is busted and way down on list of things to do..... infact probably never

Spend the money on cherry bomb sports pipe conversion instead :thumbuo:

Carl is way down south somewhere. Near Guildford I think. He is the best tho. I took Griff to him a couple of years ago.

Id echo the comments on Carl - top bloke and great with alarms as well.

I got a pair of Pioneers fitted into the holes in the back where the rear vents are which is more than adequate. Make sure that they are on spacers though so that you still retain some venting capability from the boot.

Still not as good as the V8 though.....
