146 fuse/ relay problem?
Discussion
I've got a T reg 1999 146 Ti, and have been trying to find out the problem with windscreen wipers not working. I assume it's a fuse, but having taken it to a garage for servicing, they have suggested a new relay. They work on full speed but not intermittently. Anyone had any similar issues?

There is a common problem with wiper motors. With time, the grease in the motor creeps onto the contact tracks in the gearbox & causes intermittent contact. This causes jerky wiper action, especially on the lower speeds; the cure is to dismantle the wiper motor/gearbox unit, thoroughly clean & regrease.
However, in your case I suspect that may not be the problem - my 145 is in the early stages of it, & I can clear it by running the wipers on fast for about 30 seconds.
Form what you say, I think there are two possible causes. It may be the column stalk or it may be the relay, as your garage has suggested - on fast speed, there is a direct connection from the stalk to the wiper motors, bypassing the relay (actually an electronic control unit!). First thing I'd do, after checking fuses, is check that the relay is firmly seated in its socket & that all the connections are clean. If that doesn't cure it, do the same with the stalk.
