Chaps,

My drivers side electric window appears to have failed. Put her in the garage with the roof & windows down last night, and this afternoon I tried to raise the window for a bit of respite from high speed buffeting.....nothing.

Passenger side is fine. Drivers side always suffered from the TADTS Slow movement, but today nothing.

Can't see a topic in the bible. Is there anything obvious to check before I head of to the dealer...a fuse or soemthing? Hoping it's not a knackered motor.

Cheers
Andy

have you tried to give it a helping hand at the same time as pushing the up switch ? I know if I take mine all the way down it sometimes needs this to get going again .

Could just be the plug has come undone, mine did that. Just have to remove the speaker and it is to the right at the bottom.

I had the same trouble, turned out to be the switch. Gets hot from the heating system, I think the hot cold hot situation gradually loosens the contacts. I just disconnected the switch and reconnected it, all was well. Worth a try before you start taking things to pieces ...

Thanks for the suggestions.

I tried the 'giving it a helping hand' solution with no luck.

Called the dealers to ask for advice before I/they started taking it apart.

Their first suggestion was as above, so when I called back today to book it in for them to take a look they said
"Have you tried giving it a good thump?"
"A thump?...Where?"
"Try giving the door panel a bit of a thump when you press the button"
"What? Really?"
"Yep, it might work, if not see you on Friday"
"Ok, will give it a go!"

So there I was, sat in the garage.

Ignition on.

Left hand on electric window button, thought to myself 'Yeah right Tony, give it a thump' as I gave the door panel a gentle thump.

Sweet as a nut the window did it's stuff. Result.

So there you go, that's experience for you!

Tony at HHC Thanks, and I won't be seeing you Friday!

Read this post just as I was about to start removing the speaker to gain access to the door innards and fix my dead window. I'd checked the switch and all was well there. Didn't really believe that it could work; held down the window switch and gave the door panel a not very hard thump and yes...............the window works again!!! Time to fix - 30 seconds and both arms intact. Thanks!!
