I'm after a new barbey.

A Yankee chap (well he's an ex-pat Brit but a Yank citizen) says that

"BBQ: Indirect heat
Grill: Direct heat"

I disagree with him.

It should read;

"Oven: Indirect heat
BBQ: Direct heat"

He reckon these are barbeys

I reckon they're trains or more likely hotsmokers or...ovens.

What say you Aussie fellows?

Call that a Barbie???
Now this is a BBQ.

I had one like this in Oz, cost about £500 and worth every bit. Sure to be an equiv here? Think of it more as an "outdoor kitchen".
Key features should be:
4-6 burners under the grill area.
Stainless steel body & trolley frame.
Built into a trolley (typically 2 wheels at one end)
should come with a decent size LPG cylinder (9kg min)
Enamel coated cooking surfaces (never rust); part grill & part solid hotplate.
"hot rocks" beneath the cooking area are good as the retain heat so you get direct flame cooking, tempered by the rocks which also give off radiant heat. After a while, a lot of burnt materials & fat coat these & add the true BBQ "flavour"
Roasting hood (lid) and facility for rotisserie or racks for roasts
Seperate Wok burner on one side with lift up cover so it can be a shelf if not being used (gotta put that beer someplace handy!)
Should come with a weatherproof cover so it can live outdoors.
Last but not least.. a "do not disturb" sign to ward off the fairer sex when you are busy drinkin & chattin to yr mates (sorry, I mean't BBQ'ing)
Hope that helps.. happy to come around & share some cooking tips when you need to break it in!

How good is that... runnin out of booze you can go to the bottle shop & keep on cookin at the same time! In fact, why not just park it outside the bottle shop in the 1st place?? I want one!

I reckon you need:
4 burners
50/50 plate grill
warming rack
hood
somewhere to put your beer
somewhere to hang your tongs

Having said all that, I cant afford a flash new one. Does anyone know where I can get something similar second hand? I can pick it up if its near Bournemouth/Southampton. Am checking ebay also.
