I have driven porsches for 18 years, and I picked up my first new Porsche a 997 C2S on thursday.
Today, just 3 days old, i found a nail in the right rear tyre, centre of tread.
This was detected by the tyre monitoring option.
Can the tyre be repaired or replaced by a standard tyre fitter or does it need specialist OPC knowledge/tools with the tyre pressure sensors fitted?.

It should be able to be repaired/plugged with no problems, only a no-no if on the shoulder/side of the tyre. Any tyre centre will be able to do the repair needing no specialist/OPC attention.
The pressure warning system has indicated a loss of pressure due to the nail by means of detecting the rolling radius of the tyre is reduced and the speed of that wheels rotation has increased, all measured by sensors in the brakes. Each wheel is compared with its diagonal opposite and when a difference is highlighted, the warning light is activated.
HTH.

Thanks,
However, the actual tyre pressure (psi) on the monitoring display increases as you pump up the tyre with the car stationary. I think it has a wireless sender in each valve assembly, hence not sure if its OK to take to standard tyre fitter.

I guess a call to your local OPC will confirm any queries you have. But if as described, there are sensors in the valves, these shouldn't be affected by your high street tyre depot doing a repair.

God help your bank balance if an OPC has to supply & fit new tyres.....
