A few from the last week or so - Longleat, Imber Village (do a search, villagers kicked out in 1943 for Army training...) and a friend's cat...

All shot on D200 with 18-70mm DX.

My limited experience can't come up with anything constructive to say except that I really like every one of those shots.

Like the tank shilouette.

Maybe a tighter crop on the bottom of the frame to give a more panoramic layout would place more emphasis on the tank than on the grass?

Hi Dave,

just interested in what you percieve this to be a photo of. Is it the tree on the left, the gate/bridge/waterfall, the sheep, the hill in the background, the grass and leaves in the front or the shoots coming up from the water? My eyes just cant settle on what main compositional element of this photo is.

nice, but you should have gone in closer on the gate - for me the church behind the bars is too distracting

good one, looks like a hand developed film photo, although the top right hand cornet is a bit messy - could do without that clump of grass and cloud formation imho

I like the tank silhoutte, the cloud formation could with a bit of a stretch of the imagination be the result of the gun having been fired... or is that just me

Big cheese!

First off, sorry for not replying sooner, work sent me to Ukraine to take photos out there. Fair point on the water image Matt - I took it because it was there and i'd just bought a new camera, didn't expect much to come of it but printed it A4 and really liked it.

re Church - the whole point of the shot (in my eyes anyway) is that it's a church, a place that's supposed to be open to all and it's padlocked - it's only opened 1 day per year as it's in the abandoned village of Imber, Wiltshire - do a Google if interested but the basic history is that the army booted all the villagers out in 1943 to train there and never let them back. After much petitioning by the residents and their decendants the Army reluctantly agreed to allow the public to enter the village (now consisting mainly of building carcasses) on 50 days per year, and open the church for a service once a year in September.

Big Cheese - you want a print of that shot? E-mail me off forum and i'll happily send you an A4 print for a few beer tokens.

Didn't see any, though I can now see in the dark! I was in Kiev so only about 100km from Chornobyl.

Yes, I DID know what I was writing. Reading it back I sound rather dense, but it was meant to sound funny. Ah to hell with it, i'm just too damn tired!

Don't worry mate, I had assumed it was a joke...a good one One of these days I'll grow up and be a boring old fart, but untill then I choose to see the funny side of everything. And like it says on my rear 'plate, "when someone gives me a good reason to grow up I'll think about it...maybe"

Growing old is compulsory, growing up is a choice
