Does anybody know an 'independant' in the Kent area,
If not in Kent, closest to Maidstone. Main agent quote
of £1500 is a bit rich for me, considering there is always other bits a pieces they'll end up doing as well.

What does this work out per hour?

I've seen £5-£700 banded about but not double that!

Sounds like the same dealer in Maidstone that one of the guys was complaining about a couple of months ago.
Recall they quoted him something like £1600 for a basic 24K service on a 4.0 Chim.
Wonder what Mr Wheeler would make of these prices?

Looked though my cars old recipts a while back and seem to remember that the majority of services cost between £300 and £1100 (the dearer ones are when something major had to be done) but average out about £600 - £800). I think most were done at Fenhurst.

Haven't had to do a service on mine yet, but one is due in 2000 miles, and I'm worried it may break the bank too!! Good Luck! - Dan

Had a 36k done on my Chimaera last year at Fernhurst (first class job) - bit of a drive cross country but for 570 notes it's better then main dealer prices.

Phoned up a main dealer in Maidstone aswell for a 54k Service on my Chimaera, which they quoted as being £695.
Castle are quoting £595, so guess where mine is going this weekend??

I've posted my 36,000 mile bill up on my website for you to peruse.

David Gerald do the basics for £450. It needed lots of other things I knew about, and some things I didn't know I needed (like 'sundries'...) which brought it closer to a grand.

It then broke down on the motorway on the way home...

(In fairness I think that this is a dodgy fuel pump relay, is intermittent, so unlikely to be their fault...).

Otherwise the job seems okay, and they are certainly friendly, it's just that, well, my wife says I am introverted when it comes to praise...

See the bill at www.smatterballs.com

I had the 36,000 mile service done on my Griff 500 last August at Fernhurst. Cost £460 including VAT, with no work needed other than the standard service.

Car history and costs are in my profile.

Cheers,
Pete

Dannyboyo - why dontcha talk to Manek about this? I'm sure he's been thru all the pro & cons in the past.
I've used Mole valley & Peninsula for the Griff, happy with both but the price difference is a bit of an eye opener!
