On BBC1 News... TVR to close in 6 months!

Very worrying times ahead, it's been said many, many times on here but what a huge loss it would be if TVR closes it's doors.
I love my Cerb' and one of the main reasons being it's completely British and you can't say that about much these days. It was built by British craftsmen and women, say what you like about the quality, it's was built to a price and it's about ecomonies of scale, it's a wonderful piece of engineering if you understand what the car's all about.
I truly hope that this isn't the end, not only for the workers whose jobs are in jepodary but we could see another death in the UK car industry.
As has been said on here before, how much would it cost if we form a consortium and buy the company? Could be like a pheonix, just like Aston Martin in the '70s.

Again - no need to panic.
When Moleskin bought TVR - he was not the only interested buyer.
Indeed if we considered car industry track record rather than highest bidder then he would not have been the best person to buy it.
If it does go up for sale then I'm sure others will make more of a go of it than he has but we may all be a bit premature in this...

The way I read that is that the factory at BLACKPOOL is to go with the loss of jobs - NOT TVR!

i think you may have hit the root of the problem when you describe the cerb as being distinctly 'British'
altough probably mentioned loads of times already, the current batch of TVR's are mental yes, stunning yes, fast yes, fairly affordable yes but British? for me the TVR of the 90's that seemed to represent a Britishness in design as well as ideology has been lost somewhat.
although the Tuscan was a popular car, the transition TVR made towards ever-outlandish designs, i feel, meant that TVR lost its 'Britishness' and focus of design that resonated with so many people with the Griffith, Chimeara, Cerbera and previous models. perhaps this has turned a British public away from the newer models.
i think TVR, to some degree, hit gold when PW identified what a British sports car should be, but in moving on TVR forgot to pay heed to what made it successful and the reasons behind it.
