Hi Julian, I drove one of those kit cars to the MOT station the other day 500bhp at the wheels out of one 1300cc engine, it felt like it was going to take off (scary !!) Thanks for the estimate

An 18,000 mile 4.2 was recently sold locally for £2500. sounds like that was a bargain

30k 4.2 was on ebay for £4250 .. no bids ... if that helps!
(I keep looking at these things as spares ... wife would kill me!)
(just won a bid for complete interior ... why you may ask!)

A 4.2 sold on ebay for £1250 the other week. Shot head gasket but still a complete engine for not much more than £1K.

I bought a 4.2 in bits but complete for 1k a year or so back. I enquired to Douglas Valley how much a complete working engine would go for and they said 4-5k, and said a complete but stripped engine for 1k was a bargain .. can't imagine prices have moved too far from that?

Douglas Valley arent at the cheap end of the scale though. They want over £200 for second hand spider wheels EACH.

They appear to be more than the new price quite often.

They said to me - yes that is about the new price but hey you cant get em from TVR so we charge the new price. Wanna leave it, fine as plenty will pay that price!

I always find it strange when I hear prices from DVB on here .. i've always had excellent service at very reasonable prices .. maybe they treat traders differently I don't know, but I have nothing but praise for them on service and value, unlike another TVR breaker I could mention who will never get any of my business ever again ...

Thats very strange because my experience says exactly the opposite. All of my spares have been from Bell Hill, and their prices have always been excellent, sometime half of DVB. Also, when one of the hubs I ordered turned up with damage to one of the bolt holes they replaced it straight away. I'm just about to order another big consignment of spares too so I've full confidence in them!!

One breaker you may have mentioned use underhand tactics like posing as private buyers on ebay .. had i known they were the buyers of my chimaera wheels (and knowing what they quoted me for a full set of wheels previously) i would have done everything in my power to prevent them winning the bid. Very poor form IMO.

Used to be a Cerbera owner (now defected to dual Tuscan convertible and Sagaris ownership, I'm afraid, although I still have a soft spot for the Cerbie).
