Yup, my ISP - www.zen.co.uk - upgraded me from 512kb to 8meg for the same price. So far, so good. I generally get 2.5-3meg, but when you download large files it jumps up to full speed. I downloaded a 100mb mp3 file last night in about 4.5 minutes.

yes, had it for a while now
Takes around 10 days or so to settle down and work out what line speed you can get(BT service level wise)
Just keep rebooting the router etc and resync if things slow down too much.

mine is taking a long time to sped up. Oddly, my upload speed has gone up to about 360k.

Same here, running at 6.5Mb as a bit away from the exchange

Same here, also with Zen and it's a tenner a month cheaper than my previous (slower) speed.

I cancelled by ADSL just as they were regading, I got a 7.5Meg connection, but by then NTL had turned up and given me the full 10. Synthetic testing aside I only seem to get about 3.5 max on either, so... er... faster than the rest of the internet then.

yep upload on Max is 512K instead of the usual 256K, so should sync at around 440.
Still capped though, 1Mb is "max" upload

ukonline are offering 22mb, if its in your area and you're close enough to the exchange.

22Mb is "ADSL2" - different technology again.

I have had 10mb broadbean from Blueyonder since the end of last year.
It will pump out 1mb per sec if the other end can keep up. Not many sites can.
Due to latency, normal web surfing doesn't "feel" different once you go above 2mb IMHO.

I was maxed on 04/04 and it is still not working properly. If you want to risk frequent line drops (which will boot you from a game) then try it

Line drops will depend on your snr. People who are further from the exchange will have lower snr, and risk dropping more often. My 8mb works fine, max about 840k download, 50k upload. Works a charm.

I'm about a mile from the exhcange and am told I can expect to get about 4.5meg... At about £3 more than I'm currently paying, I think a move to Zen is in order.

yeah thats what you modem/router is synching at.
Try downloading some large files and see what speed you get. The current MSoft XP service pack is alawys a good one to try to max out your connection.
Although I downloaded Trackmania Nations the other night at 772K/s

I live a block away from the exchange and get between 7.2 to about 7.8max, usually settles around 7.5/7.6 though.
The best thing is lining up a whole bunch of large files and they all zoom down together and you can still surf the web with barely any noticeable effect.
