Finally got the car in for an MOT, and took it to Barnet TVR Centre.
Only failed on play in o/s track rod.....but that's not the whole story.

During the MOT it over heated..it's never done that before. It had a new radiator fitted, and everything else that goes with it done 6 months ago..and has done about 300 miles since.
I admit, I haven't really used it..and recently I have noticed that the temp guage only rises to 50 degs, even though the engine feels up to temp.

So anyway, they had to abandon the rest of the MOT due the overheating, to investigate.
Oil is clean..no emulsion..doesn't use any water in fact. So do you guys think it could just be a dodgy thermostat or air lock??

Does sound like an airlock. Did whoever did the rad know that blleding the air out can be tricky? Also, did the fans come on when it overheated? Short the otter switch leads together will tell you that the fan is at least connected ok, although the otter switch itself may have failed.

Fans didn't come on..apparently they shut it down as it started to overheat. No fans though.
Really confused, as it's been fine.
I'll ask them about the otter switch too.

Cheers.

I'm just paranoid now...warped heads, Head gasket etc... That and...being charged £400 just to scratch their bums

So was it Barnet that did the rad change? If so, they should be well aware of the bleeding process. Sounds like they caught it early anyway.

Had the rad changed at Offords...less said..the better.
I guess i'll find out soon enough. Just praying it's something simple, with no damage.

PASSED....

The cooling system was airlocked, and the wrong cap was fitted on the radiator...apparently??

Great drive home..if a little painful with my back.

cheers
