Our intrepid moderator Domsters old 964 rs is back on the road. Rebuilt by Andy Fearns to cup spec he's done an outstanding job, a real labour of love. It is simply a new car. My first 911. Drove it for a few hours last night. Just unreal. It feels faster than my trackslag impreza, with an engine that revs like a superbike; i dont know how else to describe how electric the throttle response is and relentless acceleration deep into 3 figures (i should imagine). then there's the (loud) noise, just, well if you don't know what it sounds like i can't describe it. oh and the handling. what a joy. its on cup suspension with just under a fist or ground clearance, it darts and weaves all over the road, you feel every single camber, ridge, stone. so much information, so readable. it doesnt even feel like a big caterham; it feels like a regular sized one! but the best thing is the electric turn in and the squat under acceleration, the grip coming out of corners; its like god leant on the back of the car. ok im getting a bit excited but what a car. i feel a sicky coming on this afternoon.

i forgot the noise of the 60% diff, the gurgling fluids (the car not me) and the smell of hot oil. oh my god. i'm really starting to feel that 1 day flu.
and the brakes !!! enough

Excellent news Francis, sounds like a lot of fun......do try to contain your emotions and under NO circumstances let Domster give it a quick blast for old times sake....particularly if there is any chance of rain....have fun, a great car

LOL, glad you are enjoying it Frank You'll have to take me out for an :ahem: spin in it, at some point at Bedford when the badgers are nicely tucked up in their sett.

I can vouch for that (no offence, Dom)!

The Baron lives! Long live the Baron!

Francis: please, please, please bring your lovely beast to a PCGB Track Day or a VW - I just have to see it again! It was beautiful before it must be fabulous now...

Enjoy!

That's why you say 'oh my god' when you lift off in a corner.

Long live the Baron - I have never even seen the Baron, but having heard so much about it feel compelled to welcome it back to the highways and by-ways.

Some later in the year should still be available. If you do make it and see my car (it will likely be the only Guard's Red Boxster S circulating then please come say hello...if I spot the Baron I'll be over like a shot.

ATB and enjoy your superb car! (964RS - in Red - just lovely)
