Anyone going to DONINGTON - Bank Holiday
Discussion
I'm hoping to be there, possibly both days, though rain is apparently due on the Sunday so my photo opportunities may be somewhat limited if it's too inclement.
Got to make use of my DPRAC membership and enjoy the free entrance!
Of course this assumes that I won't get too much aggro from 'management' about the plan.

will be there, my best mate will be racing his galaxie in top hats.
worth going just to see this beastie wallowing around the track, i lived in canada when i was a kid any my mum had one, which was recognised as the fastest car in the town
Having driven his sideways around goodwood, it hustles round remarkably quickly for something the size of a house. it's an ex-carrera panamericana car.

is it white by any chance? if its the one i've seen race quite a few times then its normally somewhere around the back end of the top ten till the brake's go off in the latter stages.

yes, to say they are having brake problems would be a bit of an understatement!
Hubby and I will be there racing our Ford Falcon in Top Hat on Monday. GT, I didn't think there were any Galaxie's down to race on Monday? We raced against 2 at Castle Combe on Easter Monday - they make our Falcon look tiny!
BTW, our TVR Griffith is shown on the program link - half way down next to the Jag E type. Red with white stripes Griff - our Falcon has a matching colour scheme. We will be flying our Pistonheads flag on our race truck in the paddock if anyone wants to come along for a chat.

Hmm. I believe it's the full circuit as well - which won't help much I guess ...

Weather update .... well the BBC National forecast earlier this evening now thinks Sunday will be nice and dry but Monday may start a little damp before clearing up.
ITV seems to have stuck with rain on Sunday, as did the local forecaster on BBC apparently.
My guess is that they were all guessing or lying and we will have a heatwave with heavy blizzards. I will ensure that the car is filled with a complete array of clothing to suit any conditions related to the vagaries of being out of doors in the UK.
Excellent day's racing!
We visited the Grand Prix Museum / Coys Auction first, in the morning. Some lovely motors being flogged off including a Lambo Countach.
If you've never visited the Grand Prix collection museum, you MUST do it. The array of race cars on show is quite simply awesome. There are hundreds ranging from pre-war to modern day - All with good history and driven by stars such as Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Nigel Mansell and Senna to name a few.
After lunch, we watched some proper racing. Great to see historic cars still strutting their stuff.
Stayed dry too. Bonus.

Almost stayed dry, but it got very cold by the end of the day.
Some wonderful kit in the paddock and excellent racing. And if I recall correctly Ian Titchmarsh, the commentator, turning into Murray Walker at a few points, not the least when Oli Bryant ran out of fuel in the Morgan after taking the win in the Sebring Salute. So they interviewed his dad who was originally going to co-drive, and finished the interview by offering congratulations to "Oli Gavin".
From a selfish perspective the lack of spectators (I've seen more on track days) was a bonus for moving around and making it easy to try whatever photo locations I fancied. On the other hand it was sad that such a great meeting and such superbly presented vehicles don't attract more attention.
As one of the competitors was commenting as I happened to walk past - "It's not very busy, it's just like an old time club meeting". And I think he was spot on.
The Monday card looks good as well. They are expecting rain. Let's hope it stays away.
Mostly dry today but a bit wet mid race for the for the Pre-'66 touring cars. And quite cold by the end of the day.
Some excellent racing once again and a few surprising results.
All in all an excellent 2 days. Still looked like very few spectators though which is a shame because what is on offer deserves better.
