Basically it has a bit of a judder when pulling away with min revs. The car was bought from OPC last month, would this be covered under the warranty? I'm presiming its the clutch but not really tested it for slipping yet..There is some vibration when braking hard form motorway speeds, its very slight but def there..

Also the gear lever is very notchy into 2nd and also doesn't seem to spring back? Hard to explain but I would expect the lever to be "sprung" so when pulling out of 2nd to 3rd for instance it would try and put itself into neutral? Christ this is hard to explain.. Anyway is this the norm as well and if not would the famous OPC warranty cover it?

Cheers

if youve only just bought it, they should fix it, might be a help to ask them rather than us though, just an idea.

Is it a 2.5 model? The 2.7 and 3.2 S models have an e-throttle linkage whereas the 2.5 has a straight forward cable throttle. You'll need 1250-1500 rpm to pull away smoothly with a 2.5 yet the 2.7 and 3.2 will pull smoothly at barely 1000rpm thanks to the electronic trickery!

HI Mate,

re. sticky gear stick, I had the same prob with my 53 2.7...basically it was the gear linkage at the rear - needed cleaning and lubing - had a little rust and dirty water within the linkage housing boot - takes 15 mins to sort. OPC also spray the gear box using the ash tray hole to reach the mech under the leather cover.

OPC should sort

plenty of threads on this.

Here's an odd thing that I noticed on my Boxster 2.5-it changed gears better and didnt judder when I used super unleaded. It seemed to hold its revs just a bit longer and didnt dip down to a very low idle speed when changing gear. Also the small amount of added torque seemed to stop any juddering and the need to give high revs. Could just be my imagination however?

I doubt it's your imagination, I ran my Boxster on super unleaded all the time... I thought that was the recommended RON for them? The only time mine used to stall if I wasn't paying attention was on full lock turns in car parks. The power steering creates quite a drag Most embarrasing.

It can run on either 95 or 99 and a knock sensor adjusts the timing to compensate. Its is thought that up to 10% of power is lost using 95-thats 20 bhp!

Well OPC come back to me now. They confirm linkage needs some attention. But not covered by waranty so I have to pay initialy for lube and adjustment, if that dont sort then new linkage.... The wheel vibration is because it needs an alignment, which was done only seven weeks ago when car picked up from Aberdeen OPC. The car has only been driven 1200 miles not pot holes or kerbed. So im not to impressed... I think if I took it back to Aberdeen they would sort FOC but its to far away at 300 miles.. Hoping to get the Newcastle and Aberdeen OPC in dialogue becuase I dont think these items hsould be charged to me in such a short ownership period..
