Issue with my 156

Hi Guys
Having a problem with my 156 - when i am driivng it sometimes it looses power and the battery light and sometimes other lights come on the dash, then go away and normal power resumes, it hasnt cut out yet but i am not sure if this will occur next.. anyone any ideas / had similar issues?

Silly question, I'm sure, but have you checked the connections on the battery?

yes i have - they were a bit messy but cleaned them off and still the same problem..
