If by "panel kits" you mean the dressed up MR2 "FERRARIs" and the like then the answer is no. Kits of this type that utilise all or most of the donor car chassis retain the identity of the base vehicle. No SVA. There are others based on the Range Rover chassis that also avoid SVA.Too many to list really.
Get to Stoneleigh this weekend. All the major kit suppliers will be there.
But don't be too put off by the SVA test. It's not altogether too difficult to get through and hopefully results in keeping poorly built and potentially unsafe kits off the road.

Never understood this one. A lot of the SVA test revolves around the body/lights/interior/glass, and when building a proper kit car you have to take care that this is all correct. However, you can glue an entirely different body/lights/wheels/interior onto an un-stretched floorpan and carry on like nothing has happened. Weird..
Cheers for the reply. I am building my own design, not a copy of any other car, see if it generates enough interest and if it does hopefully make a kit with a space frame chassis.
So the frame can not be streched at all?
I was thinkhing of adding about a foot to the back of the car.
Thanks for any help.

AR - you mean a foot behind the wheels or a foot between the wheels? If you are just looking to make a prototype based on another car, rather than build a spaceframe version straight off, and you are only adding length to the body rather than to the structure, I cant see why it would need an SVA - it's purely cosmetic afterall, and the Mx5 / mr2 conversions often make the overall length and diameter different.
