Why do half non GT3's have GT3 kits ?

But there's no performance advantage without extra power to compensate for the weight gain - the GT3 mk1 was 50kg heavier than the C2 and on 0-60 etc was no quicker - just a lot quicker on the (smooth) twistys, and most of that is suspension not aerodynamics - you have to be going pretty quick for the extra wing to make a difference.

Possibly better high speed stability?
I figure most buy it for cosmetic reasons though. Definitely improves a C2 visually.

the point here is that it isnt a GT3 kit, its an aerokit which is available accross the range -but fitted as standard to a GT3.
High speed stability was definately improved on my old 996 when i had the kit fitted.
its not a crime to fit it to a standard car, indeed the 996 sans aerokit is a bit bland imo.

Why anyone bothers to say that a certain 'look' or style isn’t to their taste seems a bit pointless and yet they'll ridicule anyone who will disagree with them. When neither is wrong or right, it’s just down to personal taste, although I have a mild dislike for 80's Porsche's and the 993 interior myself
I prefer the cleaner lines of the C2 996 without the aero kit, before I bought my 996 I did want an aero kitted car, but after looking at the kit in closer detail I genuinely preferred the smoother shape and decidedly less Max Power un-kitted version on the C2. I wouldn’t spec up a C2 with a kit to make the car look like something it’s not, but each to their own. Also think the GT3 MK1 bodykit has not aged very well either.

along the same lines - why does anyone bother with putting '18" GT3 wheels' or '18" Turbo look' rims on their Porsche - I prefer the stock 16" wheels .... (sarcasm..)
People have the Aero Kit, GT3 look wheels on their C2/C4 because they like the LOOK of it - that's it, plain and simple.

Lets face it, its mainly BLING with some benefits to high speed stability, the speeds you need to be doing to benefit are not your normal runs out but for the people who look for a stretch of track/road for that purpose. I believe it comes as standard on the GT's as these are primarily club racing cars. Not my cup of tea personally (my C4s is beautiful enough) but hey I'm all for choice, If we were all the same there would only be 1 type of car.

surely you are a hypocrit have just done exactly what you laugh at? said the look isnt to your taste and then ridiculed with comments such as 'max power'...
BTW Your car has the GT3 alloys so does that mean you are making the car something its not? Why not put it back on the standard c2 17" rims? If the answer is that the rims are a factory option then the aerokit by default is the same....

Given that the GT3 body kit costs, the answer is obvious.
Those who want to make their car look more special are happy to pay the cost of the GT3 bodykit.

Who should say that they are wrong ? -- other than existing GT3 owners who may then feel that their own real GT3 may have been made to look a little less "exclusive" ?
