How many 996tt owners heat shields have corroded?
Discussion
The amount of threads I'm seeing where people mention that their heat shield have corroded seems a lot. Sometimes its the heat shields themselves and sometimes its the bolts/brackets holding them on. On the 996tt there are 3 heat shields; two little ones covering the turbos and one big one covering the exhaust.
Can we have a quick poll to see who has had this problem starting with me:
Turbo shields - both corroded
Exhaust shield - bolts/brackets corroded

According to my OPC mine were corroded and needed replacing along with the brake disks. Neither of which would be covered by my official warranty so I decided to leave them a while. That was 15,000 miles ago both are still doing fine no noise, no rattles, no MOT issues and generally no problems. I do keep an eye on them, especially the brakes, but neither of them are getting any worse. My local independent has also had a look and said they were fine for now. I’m guessing they are standard OPC cash cows which most owners simply agree to replace. It’s also slightly strange why some OPC’s do better with warranty claims than others.

23k and mine have gone, was told they would be done under warranty only to be told on the day of the booking that they weren't!!
How long have you had it? If you bought it recently, the 111 point check should have picked it up. Therefore, the opc either didn't check it properly, or should have told you and would be partly, or wholey liable.
Just a thought.
