ok, there's more interest here than anticipated, so I will post pics and descriptions here rather than emailing them round.
80-400mm. this has seen pretty light use, really only on trackdays, which I haven't done for about a year. I would say it has ben used less than 100 times in its lifetime. The only "fault" with it is a little dent in the lettering, you can see this in the 2nd pic. Obviously this doesn't actually affect functioning! Glass condition is 100%, as evidenced by pics. I have the case, box, manual, and I think the hood too, although some of these are in Cambridge so I will have to collect them next time I am up there. You will see there is some dust on the back element - this s because it hasnt been used in at least 6 months - maybe a year.
80-200. Has seen more use than the 80-400, but is good condition. We have never had a problem with it, and the glass is 100%. there is some normal wear on it, just rubbing and the like though.
I don't really know what they are worth, but you can buy a new 80-400 for a bit over £800 on ebay from HK, and I am monitoring an auction on a 2nd hand 80-200 at the moment. Feel free to make offers if you like. BTW - based in London if you want to collect. You can come and see me in Tufnell Park if you want to inspect the goods

sorry, didn't think anyone was interested. Not entirely sure if we want to sell that. Its in decent condition, has all the bits, not sure if we have the box or not. Again, really don't know how much it is worth. If you would like to make an offer we will consider it!

thanks for the email. i would not consider your offer a piss take. I think what I will do is wait over the weekend for people to think about it and come back to me, then on tuesday i will make my decision.
for reference, the auction im watching for the 80-200 is this one, I wprobably will not decide on the worth of mine until that has finished on sunday.

good point! I thought it was the same as mine, but in fact it's older.
To clarify, mine is NOT the 70-200VR, it is the model before that, the 80-200mm f/2.8 AF-S

because a) I don't want the hassle b) I don't want to pay fees and c) I think it's less likely to encounter someone dodgy through this forum - with that added bonus that there is less risk for people who might want to buy, than if they were sending money to a random stranger

Exactly the reason I took a hit on selling my D70 for a bit less than it would have gone for on ebay, didn't want the risk/hassle.
