How do you clean your wheels?

Just fitted a set of 18 inch factory alloys to my Canam, is it ok to use Autosol or similar metal polish to maintain the rims? Can it also be used to polish the billet centre?

Lastly anyone got any good tips to clean around and between the bolts as this is a pain in the Arse! (points awarded for those tips that dont involve major cuts and abrasions to my knuckles!)

Don't know the best cleaner but would not use a metal polish as I belive the rims are anodised. a simple polish should work.
I use a 2" paint brush to do round the wheel nuts.

I use a wheel brush to clean it all, just scrub around the little bolts a bit and it comes off ok.

In the past I have just used a normal body polish like Autoglym, may be some wax on top. This helps stop the brake dust eating the metal and makes it a lot easier to clean afterwards.

My wheels are the original IMAGE variety as fitted by the factory six years ago. These are not coated and all areas can be cleaned with Autosol, using a toothbrush for those awkward bits. The latest wheels, although looking exactly the same as the IMAGE are , I believe, OZ wheels. These may be coated so I would avoid any abrasive cleaner. I am, infact, loosing the battle with my wheels and will probably get them refurbished by IMAGE in the near future, and maybe get them anodised black.

Mikie, IMAGE actually make a polish for your whhels that cleans/polishes them and also coats the ali to protect from corrosion. Give them a call, ive dealt with 'harry' up there.

GTRMikie, my wheels were made by image too, spoke to them today, they will charge £250 to split them, repolish the rims and centres (or paint the centres to the colour of your choice) and put new bolts and seals on which seems pretty good value to me, they also offer a courier collection/delivery service. Looks like if a weekend with a tooth brush and a tube of Autosol fails, they are on for a trip to Birmingham!
