Hi all.

I've just bought a used Sony CyberShot P9 digital camera that uses Memory Stick Duo memory. As this seems to be fizzling out, I was wondering if Memory Stick Pro can be used in its place. A seller on eBay is saying their Pro memory comes with an adapter so it can be used in non-Pro appliances. Is this the case? The Sony website says Pro can't be used in this camera with no mention of an adapter.

Many thanks.

Jason.

Bit of confusion there I think. With memory stick pro, the pro bit means it's fast writing, nothing to do with the physical card size/type. You can get an adapter that will allow you to use the newer memory stick duo cards in something that was designed to take the old memory stick cards (use one in my Sony digital camera), but you can't do it the other way around, i.e. I can't use a memory stick in my Sony Ericsson phone, that only takes the smaller memory stick duo cards.

Memory stick duo isn't being phased out, standard memory stick is because it's twice the physical size and too big for some applications. Pro (either memory stick, or memory stick duo) will work in anything that can accept the standard cards.
