Clutch slave cylinder update with pics

Hi y'all

Finally got round to taking the gearbox out and have dismantled the bellhousing and slave cylinder and purchased a new style (I think) bellhousing from Sportmotive in Stoke-on-Trent


Slave cylinder parts showing new style in front and old style (longer) at the back. The middle sleeve has the latest black coating on it apparently.

Then we have the new piston with the pitting I described in the last thread. It will be going back this week as I do not think it is of "merchantable quality". Sorry its a little out of focus.


The slave cylinder back plate is also "new". I looks like its been on the shelf for some time to me.


Just for the archives here are some pictures of the new style and old style bellhousings.






Also just for confirmation from those with the knowledge. Can someone tell me whether or not this is the new style clutch? And does this mean I have the new style flywheel?

Excellent posting Edhorne, the pictures are very useful comparing the new and old clutch parts, I have an early 4.2 so will be an issue for me before long.

These are the kind of pics that we need in the next reference book, dare I say it, bible, (Hello Steve Heath!)

Great work, looks like the newer clutch to me.

I dont mean to teach you to suck eggs but remember that the ports need to be top and bottom. Mine were side to side and I had to take it apart again to bleed it.

Last time I put them in top and bottom and it bled fine. It just all leaked out overnight!

After reading your thread edhorne. Do you know of anywhere that has the fly wheel to go with the new style clutch? I have a 97 Cerberra, and am desperate for a flywheel. Cheers
