Is it just me or is there always a constant problem with French cars? My Pug Gti, my friends Clio Williams2 and Saxo's too.
German cars seems to ahve major electrical problems, as my friends VR6 Golf found out and it took Wayside Audi/VW 12 weeks to fix the problem?!!
British cars just seem fine to me, I think that might be my best next choice.
Does anyone else see this pattern or am I just going crazy?

My FIAT Cinquecento was the most reliable car I ever had. Good old Cheeky Cinq did over 100k miles and the only problems I had were a leaky fuel tank 
and the brake servo expiring whilst aproaching a 40mph corner at 80mph
The thing about old Cheeky is that I didn't think he'd last that long being cheap and cheerful and all. What with FIAT's reputation I expected him to rust to bits but no - I replaced him with a '96 Golf GTI which is going rusty all over the shop at 5 years old and 72k miles. The cheekster didn't have a spot of rust at 100k+. Disappointed with the fact that VW only galvanise the bonnet and front wings on a £15k car but FIAT fully galvanised a £6k car.

Definately live and learn. I got given my MG Midget when I was 20. I loved her but I never really worked out how much it was going to send me mad with trying to keep the rust at bay. It was a nightmare, I sold her as she was never going to make it through the M.O.T without major welding. *sniff, sniff* I miss her.LOL!

Roop - I was being unduly harsh on FIAT... I too had a Cheeky-cento.. and was a fantastic little town pocket rocket! Great fun, small enough to fit in the gaps and "performance" parts were cheaper than FIAT ones! - on came the big brakes, ansa sports exhaust, engine conversion etc etc...
Completely regret selling the little fella, especially as the guy I sold it too, crashed it about two months later... and wrote it off.
Only grief I ever had was the clutch cable snapping (twice) and the leaky fuel tank (warranty job)...
We've always run French vans at work. Loads of irritating problems but usually minor. Strange though, out of seven Renault Kangoos/Clios only one has not had the immobilisor pack up and yet Renault say its "unusual" and of course is not covered by the warranty as its "an adjustment" great eh!
As for Alfa Romeo jeeez! would never ever have one again even under a sponsorship deal!

Don't Citroen Saxos have a common electrical fault where you can't turn off the front fog lights???
306 again: gear box detonated after 6000 miles, stereo and CD player broke, air con leaked inside car, safety recalled 3 times, had it serviced and the rear brakes were metal on metal the next day.
The funniest one was when the car was full of my mates and I pulled my phone charger out of the lighter plug hole - half the dash came off with it. We felll out of the car laughing.
I think it was a combination of crap car and very crap dealer.

Used to have a Renault 5, Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi, Peugeot 309 GTi (rally car though, not what you'd call standard 
), Peugeot 405 Mi16.... All pretty good cars actually! The Renault had a few problems with its heater (it wouldn't switch off!), but other than that they were reasonably reliable.

I wish my Pug 1.9 Gti was as reliable as yours sounded. Mine is only lil bits here and there and I have nearly got it all done now. New lights/fogs, grille. Nice and shiny, not grimey like before. I have only owned 2 Pugs and an MG, thinking of going CTR next. Hmm! Ideas?!
