Brake calliper difference

Sorry this is a duplicate from the Tuscan list but thought may be more success here.

I have an early (July 2000) Tuscan which I believe has the same front brake discs and callipers as a 4.2 cerb. I'm looking to upgrade the front discs, via 4.5 bells and AP grooved discs, and was planning on staying with the standard 304mm size, which I understand is the max size for the standard calliper. Looking at my setup though there is at least a 10mm gap between the disc edge and inside radius of the callipers at each end, making me think they would accept larger discs with a spacer on the calliper.

Does anyone know how you tell the difference between 4.2 and 4.5 (ie Tuscan RR) callipers? Is there a model code or anything on them?

The 4.5 and later Tuscan seem to have the fatter looking AP6600 calipers, (these tend to be fatter and shorter) compared to earlier Tuscans and 4.2 Cerbs that have the slimmer longer calipers (all 4 pots).

Think all are now the AP6600 type.

The ealier ones have slim cooling type fins in the long length direction of the caliper i.e. they don't look like the above. Mine has 300mm disc - they have a range of disc size they can work in. just have to call AP.

Thanks for that. Yours look like the later callipers fitted from about 2002 or so? I thought the earlier Cerbs and Tuscans all had the same (CP5200?) type of calliper (with the central pin across the pads) just in a different size 4.2/std Tusc vs 4.5/RR Tusc. I'm a bit unsure though.

In terms of disc dia, is the limiting factor simply what will fit the inner radius of the calliper?

As you know the caliper numbers - you just have to get with Ap and tell them which you have an dthey will say waht size range each is designed for.

Mine were on later Tuscans and 4.5 Cerbs and the current cars.
