Noble m12 in azure blue 2.5 for sale anyone?
Discussion
As much as I would love to buy one of these cars unfortunately thay are just slightly over my budget it is the 2.5 model iam after. Although I have done a bit of research into these cars regarding the ecu and track sumps e.t.c do any of you owners out there know if there are any other pitfalls in owning one of these cars? I would be gutted if I bought one to find it needs a few grand spending on it.

I wouldn't buy any car that was 50k new without some contingency in case things go wrong. You may live to regret it. Sorry if thats a downer, but you won't enjoy a car you can't afford to maintain.

Not sure if the 2.5 has the torque to do this but some (and it is only some) 3 litre cars without LSD have popped the diff when giving it the berries. Have a chat with Richard or Terry at Vegantune - 2 of the most helpful and knowledgable blokes I've dealt with in recent times.
Also watch out for coolant leaks. Pull the cover off the fuse panel in the passenger footwell to check. There are some joints are directly above the fuses and relays. A;so check the engine bay for signs of colant loss. Not expensive unless you run too low.
What's your budget by the way?
Edited to say check for sloppy steering and gear change and if the car wanders when driving the geo might be out. Check wheel bearings on tracked cars and DO NOT buy any car that has no track sump if it has been within a million miles of a track.

If you rag it the diff will go whether a 2.5 or 3.0, its only a matter of time. The LSD is pretty much bullet proof.

These are £50k cars, and hence expect a £50k car bill each time you need something done. Even a service, with nothing else needing doing, is £600 and so it's odds on that you'd need the odd £k or two each year to sort out other things.
A set of tyres is £600, disks £120, pads £110 and so on - a slightly different league than the Elise....

That's the spirit! As long as you are aware of the costs, and expect them, then the cars themselves are out of this world. If you can ensure that the odd 1-2k bill isn't going to be a downer for you, then a good 2.5l car is an absolute joy.
I still sometimes hanker over the 2.5l even though I have an M400. Whilst slower, the car still was somewhat more entertaining in the shere way it delivers it's power, and of course oversteer is somewhat easier (and hence more entertaining for passengers) in a 2.5l on SO3s than it is in the M400.

So guys what is the main difference between the GTO 3 and the R version? Can you get a GTO 3 with the LSD? or is that just the R?
I also noticed the champagne coloured Noble in the classified's is running 445bhp does anyone one on here own it? Just wondering what it has had done to reach those figures!
Changing my car and can't choose between a Noble and Monaro VXR at the moment.... Caught a bit between passion and practicability at the moment!

Hi J only just realised it was your website and article in the evo magazine that inspired me to save for a noble great website and good info to be had on their keep up the good work.
The website hasn't had any updates since I got the M400 - no time really. Glad you found it useful.

It's got a "Works 2" engine by Noble Motorsport. Noble Motorsport (no relation to Lee Noble) tuned and built the 2.5l engines, and they are pretty well regarded in the industry. As with all upgrades though, there will be some sort of compromise that makes it different to the stock engine, but depending on your view that may be better or worse than what the factory did with the M400 engine.

3R... Er....headlights are faired in, leather interior, a bit more sound deadening, most have 6 speed box and LSD (but not all - it was a £2500 option originally) and the wheels are different... that's about it I think.
GTO3.... all of the above are options except the front clam doesn't have the faired in lights (but the non-faired lights work better)
