Anyone updating/tuning their Pride and joy at the moment?
Discussion
Ive decided to pull the engine on the 91 ZR-1 after next weekends show(super car sundy) to replace the sump which has taken a bit of a thump, while its out i will be renewing some gaskets, they arrived last week and fitting headers, ive also got a perfomance chip on the way and have just ordered a "short shifter" gear shifter.
While the engine is out the chassis, engine bay, trans tunnel and running gear will get the treatment from a valet guy with the aid of a jet wash and some acid clean (hes quoted me £40).
Ime also fabricating some "Beam Plates" and giving the ZF 6 speed a good clean and service, the work will take around two weeks and ime hoping to take the power up from 378hp to around the 420 mark with these few bolt on mods.
Anyone else working on their Pride and Joy?

I'm replacing the crappy C5 Vette seats with Cobra Evolutions left over from my BMW racecar. Also adding 6 point harnesses and one of those cool harness bars from Ecklers so that I can mount my cam for Le Mans.
Looked at superchargers - there was one on e-bay a few weeks ago but not sure I can justify the expense to the wife. Other than that I just need some new Toyo R888's .
Can't wait to get the top off and head down to Le Mans

I've got a Bauer Kreuse bar in my 2003 Z06 which I got from www.northstarmotorsport.com in the US. I also got a set of seat rails for my Corbeau Race seats from the same people. Cobra USA May well do specificseat rails that fit to the original bolts in the floor of the C5 so it might be worth checking with them unless of course the BMW has the same spacing and bolts as the C5........I think not!

Cliffy are you nuts?
Why don't you enjoy driving the Zr-1 for the summer and then during the cold dark days of next winter do it then......or is the black beast ready for the summer?

Unfortunately Nige ive got no choice, the sump took quite a hit at sometime and has been welded using some sort of cold weld material and of late is getting slightly damp around the weld,i shouldnt really be driving it but needs must.
Also to replace the sump, gasket and the rubber O-ring that goes between the oil pick up and pump i need to be 100% confident ive done the job properly, which i cant be laying under the car,its not worth the risk for the sake of a few more hours putting the motor on an engine stand and doing the job properly.
Ive got all the parts up together(New sump, gaskets, headers, shifter)so now its time to get some oil under the nails,i reckon it will take two weeks at most to do,plus i can fit some headers ready for the next tunnel run
Hows yours doing?

Having fitted the carbon monospring and rear ARB to the '65 Coupe and experienced the improvements the bug has bitten. Just got uprated and slightly lowered front springs, smartstruts, and various other bits and bobs. Will fit that lot up, get the suspension realigned then a rolling road tune up and then enjoy.

Have now put 400 miles on the new engine in the SS, used vette block, lowered compression, supercharger cam, custom tune by Fastchip, running good at the moment! Green vette has had yet another optispark and new weatherstrip, always a great running car. Picked up pace car today and have a spare steering column lock harness/relay for a euro spec vette if anyone has trouble!
I want to drive my vette
Ordered a complete suspension package for it from Doug Rippie last week, including new FX3 Bilstien shocks valved to his spec, coilovers, poly bushes, new modified camber brackets and and anti squat brackets.
My beam plates arrived yesterday, I have the Samco hoses and air duct, fitted new oxygen sensors, thermostat, heat wrapped and coated my headers, nearly finished cleaning and painting/undersealing the underside of the car......I'm turning into a waxer

And bring "Zig" with you aswell.
"sorry I was speeding officer it was the bloody snake wrapped around the pedal"
You been watching the video?? there is a shed load of stuff to remove, undo, move to one side etc before you can lift it out. Think the manual lists about 70!
Get all that out so its ready to lift and I could come down. I'm working right through from next Monday to the following Wednesday then I get Thur to Sun off. That might be a good time to lift. That gives you a couple of weeks to get most the bits off ready to lift. Have you got all the bits you were waiting for over now??
Should be able to do all that you need to in no time once its out and then drop it back in.

Ile have more of a chat with you about it sunday.
MSD just done, new exhaust planned when I can actually find someone who makes one (decided on Flowmaster 50s only to find they don't make them for my car
) then just new tyres and I'm set for the summer. Oh and must get round to fixing the seatbelts, rather than just not wearing them

Might upgrade mine with a wash sometime soon, think that'll be worth about 6000000hp.
Do that down here and you'll be a law breaker
Sorry - forgot to plug my new business venture - buckets of water for sale in Peterborough - buyer collects, £25.
