When did PCM2 satnav become an option?

I am looking for a 996TT and dont want PCM1 satnav (Would rather go without and get a becker or tom tom). What month and yr did PCM2 become an option so i know what yr i should go for if i get a car with satnav?

PCM2 was introduced for 52-Reg cars (I think). However, PCM2 still can't receive traffic info or warn you of speeds cameras whilst Tomtom can. My advise would be to get a car without PCM, then get a Tomtom and save a grand!

PCM2 does indeed recieve the traffic updates but does not recieve details of where the electronic systems of state control are located by the side of the road in not so cleverly disguised bright yellow boxes.

Only with the PCM2 upgrade kit for £400 as I have just had it done to my 52 plate Turbo!

Just had mine done at Hatfield OPC, its about £330 for the bits and £50 labour.

It adds better mapping and traffic reports.
