Front Number Plate - Again?
Discussion
I haven't seen the thread you refer to but my front plate is attached, via 2 drilled holes, to the bodywork bar beneath the grill.
It was like that whe I bought it and I realised, having read through the car's documentation, that the first owner had fitted private plates and so the following owner then had to revert to a DVLA reg.
At some point one of these owners had overheating problems (it's obvious that the radiator has been replaced in the last couple of years) and that lowering the plate may have been a quick-fix prior to that.
Initially I was worried that the car was running colder than it should be but, despite the recent weather, all appears fine.
Bottom line? I think the front looks much nicer with a clear grille & plate near the ground but...and Mr. Heath will probably assert this... it's not the place where the front plate is designed to be.

I have the same situation. A previous owner screwed the plate to the bodywork below the grill, but it reduces ground clearance yet further and has a tendency to find kerbs. As the weather got colder the running temp decreased so I moved it back to the front of the grill to try and maintain the temperature. I'm not sure where I think it looks better.... up or down.
Just to chip into this plate topic. I have just ordered a new front plate for my Griff 500. I have ordered a new "legal" font spacing type, but since my Reg No is quite short: "## ###" I am planning on cutting the excess plate from each end, and then mounting in the normal grill space.
Doing this I hope will help cooling, but not too significantly, and should also aplease the police, as the plate is normal height, legal font, and legal spacing, which from what I have read, still makes the plate legal as the size of the plate can be altered to fit the car (I could be wrong though)

It worked when I posted it but disappeared not long after
The same thing happens to the pic of my car on my profile. Or can you see it? One minute it was there, next just a little red square in a big box.
Anybody got any ideas? Seem to be
raceboy, can you check mine again? It seems to be working again. Your main pic is there, but no additional showing your repositioned plate.
p.s. - I added the pic url to my "current car profile" too, don't know if this makes a difference. I quite often get the little red cross appear where it should be a pic.

Mine is the blue one with a V*lv* front number plate holder. Works a treat as it is made from a plastic/rubber material that helps save the number plate from those annoying bits that stick up in the roads, including sleeping cows. It is also nicely shaped to follow the body contours. The yellow one has the plate just bolted onto the body and will not last long. The red 'un is also bolted directly to the middle on the grill but being the newer design does not suffer from overheating as mine does.
Cannot remember the part number but I am sure a call to HH will lead you incognito to a V*lv* garage.
