HELP - 17" Cup 'Mag' Alloy Refurb
Discussion
Went down me local wheel refurbers (Lepsons)and here's what they said "Ah magnesium alloy's there horrible to work on, it's a bit touch and go as to whether they'll turn out good or not so good its the nature of material, come and have a look at a set of OZ Mag's we did earlier" were upon he showed me the wheels and to be honest they were a bit pants even though freshly painted and oven baked you could still see the pitting, then he showed me some freshly shot blast mags the pitting was pretty bad. So fellow Porsche heads How, Who and Where ? that is the Question - preferably in the South east please
I had my mags refurbished in January by Autofarm who are in Oxford and they did a great job, have a look at
Cost was in the region of £135 per wheel but this also included them being straightened as three of them were buckled.
Autofarm's website is www.autofarm.co.uk
I would not recommend going anywhere else.
Cheers

How many need doing? if you wanted all 4 doing we would do mag wheels at £75 a wheel, including centre caps if you send them with the wheels, we would need to work on the wheels in bare state so there would be an extra charge if the tyres are still fitted.

I have nothing to do with the company but Brian knows his wheels and I think has the last Brand New full set of mags from Porsche. He did a presentation at a local Porsche GB meeting regarding wheels and refurbs etc...

Thanks fellas there's plenty for me to go on there obviously the 'Autofarm' Wheels look great cos I can see a picture of them and they do look like new so if anyones got any pics of there refurbed wheels if you can post them it would be appreciated, I know it's not like looking at the real thing but it gives a reasonable idea of how they come up

what kind of condition are the speedlines in ?? There is somebody who is trying to sell an original set, still boxed and never been used at 4 n a giraffe k......he has had them for some months now needless to say. If they need refurbing and assuming all four do then you can be looking at the best part of a grand if you get the rims anodised, bolt tips chromed ( thats if none break as they are a nightmare to get hold of ) etc etc.
probably not much help but answer is somwhere greater than 1k and less than 4.5k.
do they look like the 993 RS speedlines or like these ?
http://bilder.mobile.de/images/autos/
which are off a 3.8RSR H&S have currently got in.
