997 GT3 ; Chrono Package ?

Hi !

So my dad just got back from the dealer, ordered a cobaltblue clubsport.

But, there's some thing I don't understand ;

The dealer told him he had to take the chrono package in order to have the sport button...
What does this sport button do, do you really need it on the GT3? Is it the same as on a Carrera ? PASM settings,..,..

Is it even possible to have the sport button on a chrono package ? Since he didn't take the PCM = no Sport Chrono package Plus .

I'd like to talk him out of having the chrono package :s Don't like the way is looks :s

it loosens off the traction/ suspension control a bit and increases torque at 2000 ish revs by about 20 nm IIRC.

Yes my dealer confirmed that you get the sport button regardless of sports chrono

Because the car has not yet been officially launched in the UK (3rd June), most OPCs are still a bit vague about some of the details. Even Porsche GB couldn't confirm a couple of matters yet

If you want to get ahead of the game there is, apparently, a hardback 997GT3 brochure for sale on ebay.

Ok thanks guys ! Hope he will now delete the 639chrono package if that's still possible.



@ Geneve ; Got the softback and hardback couple of weeks ago, but they don't explain the sportmode in combo with a chrono package...
*thinks* now I see why... because they got nothing to do with eachother !

Belgian release; june 1-2&3, getting to drive them on an airbase.

The release being one month from now is no excuse for our dealer not knowing all details ! We got a call last week that we needed to decide colour and options right now because the car is coming earlier as planned (september06).

When are you guys getting them in the UK ?

I was told official launch was August 26, Turbo in June. Not expecting mine until end of the year.

So my dad called the dealer, dealer then called Porsche Import Belgium...They still say we need a chrono package ?!?
"I might be different in other countries".... I think BS

Cigarette - tell your Dad not to worry. Dealers don't have to spec. even the first customer cars until after official launch which in UK is June 3rd at a BTCC/Porsche Cup meeting at Thruxton. By that time they will have been told exact specs. what does what etc. etc.and have full brochures. The hard back that we've all been sent is not the full blown thing - just something to keep us happy. If Dealer is trying to get your Dad to spec. now he is as someone has already pointed out a t*t.
