Track/Road Tyres

Tyre question I'm afraid.
The last time I was at Nurburgring for the few dry laps I managed my 996 fitted with Pirelli Zero Assemetrico's were squealing like Starsky and Hutch (their car not them). It that (the sqealing) because they are road tyres?
I've heard Toyo 888's are supposed to be good? Any thoughts?

Ive got the toyos on my gt3 at the moment. Grip is astonishing, but they are really soft tyres so Im not sure about the wear rate.
So far, Ive done one trip and trackday in spa, and a few hundred miles on road driving on top, and they still have about 5mm tread.

They are cheap though. 700 fitted.

Most of these R tyres seem ok on wet roads, it is standing water that causes problems. A few of the RS boys have got the toyos now so awaiting to see how long they last on track etc. Definitely seem good value compared to other track day tyres and with any luck we can all stop buying the Pirelli and Michellin options given their penchant for bending us all over.

What do you guys think of the original Corsas fitted to the RS? Grip, wear rate etc...?

I quite like them and have been using them, but I've been assured that they are a fair bit off the grip level of proper R tyres. I can't work out how it would be too much as apparently they are the same compound as Corsa Motorsports, but with more tread cut into them. Going to have to try for myself I think to see just how big the difference is. On the plus side the OEM Corsas are definitely grippier than normal road tyres, they wear ok, and they can clear standing water better than proper R tyres. Oh and they are 40% cheaper...

Dan: I agree, quite like the Corsas fitted to the RS, although they are not as sticky as a proper R tyre. I think they are a pretty good compromise though!
Regarding wear rate, my rear tyres are basically finished after a trip to Spa with two days on track (drove back and forth) and a drive on an airfield. Hmmmmm

I'm getting better wear than that! Fronts last ages, and rears I'm guessing 5+ trackdays. You weren't practising limit handling on the airfield?
