Its been an odd week, my first jago project suffered a mega set back when i discovered that the shell for my chassis had been badly damaged whilst in the care of a friend, and i thought my project was finished, the screen was smashed and the shell bent almost in two, causing severed damage, however within 12 hours i had sourced another complete free jago approx 15 miles from my home, the shell is fantastic, the chassis and engine rotten beyond belief, the shell and wiring loom were promptly chopped out, and delivered to my chassis, awaiting fitment, this is where i start to discover mk1 and mk2 jagos, the new shell came with grp doors and a one piece hard top with hinged tail gate(complete with glass), it appears to be narrower than my mk2 chassis, still no problem, because two days ago my friend contacted me to say that out on the lizard penisula someone had advertised a complete jago free to good home!!, it was advertised internally through the local naval air station(culdrose), last night i took a trip and sure enough its a mk2 cross flow powered complete soft top blue jago, with v5 on original 1979 plates and correctly registered as a jago jeep!, the guy it belonged to enjoyed building it in the early nineties, drove it a bit then lost interest and would rather it goes to someone who will use it, it needs an exhaust, a battery lots of luck and i should be away!!, the wood floors were glassed right over and despite beating them hard last night are solid, the wiring loom is immaculate, and the roof seats and CARPET are all good and clean, theupshot of it is in about two weeks i will have one mk1 shell, either a soft or hard top, one pair of doors, a chassis and probably a pinto or cross flow up for sale, all cheap, very cheap, i will probably hang onto the second rear axle and rear shocks, but there will be a large pile of jago like things to go, if any one is interested email me, i don't want to get rich, just want to see it all used rather than ebayed and left in a hedge
.........and Transmissions too. It's nice to hear stories like these. I'm in two minds what to do with my own Jeep now, physically I'll never get the rebuild done myself, getting tooooo old and my new toy is oh so comfortable. Some guy see my Jeep in our drive and was interested.....after a bit of probing I found out that he would have sold the engine to the 'banger boys' and scrapped the rest...sure....not with my tax exempt big wheeled beauty...well, one day it will be beautiful again!
