My Rims are Nasty

I've got the 18" Sport Design wheels, which look great, but are a bitch to keep clean.
Nevertheless, I persevere and keep them spotlessly clean, even through the winter.

So, I'm pretty pi**ed off to find that all four outer rims are blooming with, what is I presume, oxidization.
According to Porsche's website: 'Outer rim features an elegant high-gloss finish' !!!!

My plan is to have them sent off to Lepson's to have the outer rims refurbed.
However, I suspect that this is a design fault and the oxidization will some back. So, how about just having the rims painted an laquered?
I appreciate it won't look as good, but at least it sould last.

Any similar experience, advice or opinions.

ive seen plenty of sport design wheels showing this corrosion around the rims.

Keep us posted on how you get on. Mine are new but I imagine they will go down teh same way eventualy.

nearly every set of SD wheels I've seen have this. It's one of the reasons I don;t have them, even though I have an aerokitted C2.

I reckon it's a known fault - why else woudl the MkII GT3 have similar, but very differently manufactured and finished wheels

Think If mine go funny will get them re done all silver. Wont be able to tell anyway as tehy go black half an hour after cleaning them. damn brake dust

Mine are absolutely fine - apart from pothole damage which wasn't Porsche's fault. Car is 3.5 years old.

Porsche in corroding alloys shocker? Surely not.

Mine have corroded.

Getting them swapped for a refurbed set this week.

It happens, over time, part of the desgin issues with 3 piece wheels I am afraid.

Wot?? Paint and lacquer?? Take a good look at some of the Mk2 and RS wheels... All suffering similar problems... I guess anodising is the answer...
