Help! Chim won't start?
Discussion
Started my baby today, drove 200 yards and then she died.
she turns over, fire's for about 1-2 secs. then dies.
Petrol ok, pump primes, all connections seem ok. I have dis-connected / connected the ecu, and checked relay's etc.
Been running superb, no problems at all.
What's ironic / annoying is that it is exactly one year to the day since I bought her from Castle TVR! and this is the first trouble I have had in 18000 miles! Arrgh!
not sure if the Warranty will cover any repair's etc (tried to phone them but "office closed till Monday"
So, before I recover her to my local TVR indy etc, any idea's?
Many thanks.
Ian.

Rather unusual symptoms, but they remind me of some very strange problems I had when the earth was playing up on mine. You should have two dedicated black earth wires to the ECU - on mine, these come into the engine bay within the EFI loom, they pop out of the loom at the back of the nearside rocker cover and are trapped under the rear mounting bolt for the fuel rail.
Worth taking them off and cleaning the connection just to make sure.
It's also possible that one of the metal cased relays by the ECU are on the way out. Relays that are on the way out sometimes work fine initially but then lose contact when they get hot. These relays are Bosch specials which need to be replaced with identical parts, but in an emergency you can swap in any of the other black plastic 30A changeover relays to get you home. You must be sure to pull the relay out after you stop the engine if you do this, otherwise it will flatten the battery.
Could also be a heat related problem with any of half a dozen ignition components. You're into a potentially longer trouble shooting exercise here, so if you don't have any joy with the above then you should check to see if the plugs are wet or dry and whether the spark dies as the engine cuts out.
