Paint wear on 996 tiptronic shift

The old man recently purchased a '02 C2 with around 50k on the clock.

Car seems to run well but the last (and I believe only previous) owner seems to have been somebody who drove the car with his hand resting on the tiptronic shift-knob and as a result the silver metallic paint has worn through to expose black underneath.

The rest of the car is immaculate - what can be done about the shift?

Thinking of a replacement from Porsche (if they are supplied in colour) or spraying myself with a hardwearing plastic paint.

Any ideas? Doesn't look too difficult to remove but must confess that I haven't actualy attempted to pull it off....

Hi I brought a replacement shift button from my local Porsche specialist Strasse in Leeds it only cost around £11 (Offical Porsche part) and now my interior looks perfect too. It's easy to fit just a few seconds although you do need to put some weight into it to click it into place.

I'd be interested to know what the OPC quote you. Specialst cars of Malton are always worth a try too if the OPC quote is too expensive.
