Boxster luggage space

Quick question for all you boxster owners out there - how much luggage space has a Boxster got ? I'm renting one next week in California and the missus is threatening to bring all her usual beautifying equipment ( not that she needs much beautifying you understand 
) and half a department store of clothes no doubt. How much can be carried in the front and back boots and is it best to use soft bags rather than suitcases etc. When the hood is down it doesn't take up any boot space right ?

Your right it dosen't take any boot space up.
And soft luggage is the better option.
There is a surprising amount of space,i manage to squeeze stuff for a Le Mans weekend for 3 people in mine including Tents and sleeping bags.
Although i always take the space saver out though to make a bit more space as in real terms its next to useless anyway.

Loads of room - 260 litres or something. The hood has its own area above the engine to fold into and doesn't affect luggage space in any way. With the roof UP there is a pathetic little area into which you could, theoretically, stuff a couple of fleeces or T shirts or something - but then you couldn't take the roof down - which you will want to in California. Luckily this tiny area doesn't make up part of the quoted luggage space AT ALL.
Main problem is that the luggage space comes in two chunks NEITHER of which are suitcase shaped - so rule those out right away.
The front boot is DEEP but not terribly wide. The rear boot is the width of the car (golf clubs go in) but is SHALLOW.
So you need squashy bags. These can be quite big but NOT stuffed to the gunnels.
Before the Mrs and I toured NZ in a Z3 I actually went to a BMW dealer and got out a tape measure!
Boy were they confused. So...I recommend a trip to your nearest OPC with a tape measure and get the exact dimensions. They you'll know what will fit and what won't. If you're too chicken to blag this off a salesman 'mail me through my profile and I'll take a tape measure out to my car...
Mine's a 986S but it should be pretty similar to whatever you manage to rent.Don...loads of useful info here, only slight problem with visiting an OPC..I live on a little piece of driftwood in the middle of the Atlantic called Bermuda where they limit engine capacity to 2.0 litres or something stupid so not much chance of finding an OPC here.
Hiring either a 986 s or 987 s not sure what is going to turn up till get there. So even a case which is small enough for carry on luggage won't go in either boot ? If you have that measuring tape handy tomorrow......

I'll go out with the tape measure tonight when I get back after work! I'll do the magazine in the bottom photo as well. That should give you a good idea...jimmy riviera said:

Actually, a standard carry-on case does fit in either the front or back luggage compartment (mine certainly does) but to maximize capacity I'd recommend not to bring it - also avoid holdalls that have a frame and wheels since the frame thing voids ths squishy advantage.

Its 17cm deep at its shallowest and because of the curve of the boot lid at its deepest (up near the engine) its 30cm deep. Back to front its 48cm. Across the width of the car at its widest its 100cm. Actually its a little more...
Because you can see the boot recesses at either side...
The front "boot" is 70cm wide and is 42cm of usable space back to front - the spare wheel eats up some but 42 is what is available to luggage. Its 42cm deep at its shallowest and around 50cm at its deepest.
There are a couple of storage "thingies" your Mrs can stuff with hairbands and the like...
Each door has a side pocket that can hold bits and bobs. But don't put anything in these as they're not secure...
There is a tiny lockable storage box to the rear of the handbrake you can shove hotel keys and the like in. There is also a decent glove box - which will be filled with the car's manual probably. But some small items can go in there.

reckon we should be fine with the carry on cases and the holdalls....missus riviera well versed in the benefits of open air driving from our elise days but will remind her all the same.

Why don't you take the Boxster and let the missus follow in an artic with all her stuff. This will also avoid the whining noise from the passenger seat too....
