Chaps,

I'm the advance party for a group of 26 fellow Le Mans attendees who want to camp together in Houx Annexe.

We all have tickets and I'll be getting there sometime on the wednesday afternoon.

Basically, I'm concerned that:
a) will there be enough space for me to set aside a pitch for 14 cars by then?
b) do I have to "guard" it until the rest arrive on friday afternoon or, if the perimeter is marked out with stakes and tape, can I go and watch the practice sessions/beer shop/etc safe in the knowledge my space is "reserved"?
c) is it not the done thing to tape off a huge area for one lone tent and one car and sit in it on my own until the rest arrive, even when people are struggling for space?

Cheers,

Fiona

Hi, not sure of a answer to the question but if youd also reserve another 3 cars and tent spaces in a good spot it would be very much appreciated

we will be there about lunch time on friday, beer will be on nervy.

I rather think that you will have to actively guard the area somehow. A space that large with little occupancy will get more than a little attention from prospective campers...

Hmm, Houx annexe, Wed aft! I doubt you will be the only one with that problem. Never seen site untill thurs aft when i dont think it would be possible. Should be much emptier on wed. Main prob will be other groups looking for space and not appreciating the amount of room you have taken. I would certainly recomend that you stand guard to repell boarders and explain the situation otherwise you may return to find someone has moved in. Can cause some bad feeling with folk tired after long journey etc and then struggling to find a pitch. (Few beers keeps the neighbours happy). A few banners with your club/group name will help make it more official. What does really piss folk off is when people are plain greedy with the area they corden off, taking the 'i was here first screw you' attitude. Make sure that you take the minimum that you need and no one should get to upset. Have a good one D.

4 cars, please. like the man said, beers will be on me, just as long we dont have to pitch our tents on beers.

I'm getting the overnight Ferry from Portsmouth to Caen on Thursday, I only live a couple of miles from the Port.

Definitely interested in those stickers, be good to catch you all at some point.

My first time to Le Mans ( as a semi-adult).

Thanks for the comments guys.

As much as I'd love to hold space for you all I'm afraid I can't defend half the campsite.

I'll be sure not to take too much space and make sure the area is appropriately logo'd.

I do feel for those that turn up late and have to make do with rubbish spaces but that's why I'm going down 2 days early. I'll have to get the beer in though, or waiting for the rest to turn up is going to be boring.

As a newbie, I'm curious as to what constitutes a good space from bad one in Houx Annexe? Is it just get one as close to the track/loos/bar as possible or is there more too it? Our party is arriving Wednesday evening, so should get a good pitch hopefully.

One that isn't near the main road way and that is about 100-150 meters from the loo. Oh and as far away as possible from the *person* with the EvoIV who insists on sitting there at 2am reving the nuts off it (until it all want quite after a huge bang followed by cheering acorss the site)

As for spaces my mates arrived on the Wednesday afternoon last year and have no trouble at all in getting a good space for 5 cars. Unless you have a very big tent/gaebos etc you will most likely have to defend your space (AND CONSTANTLY APPOLOGISE TO WOULD BE INTRUDERS) until others arrive.

I don't think people will have a problem with you reserving space for a large group.

The only thing i would suggest is that when everyone has arrived and you realise you have reserved more space than you needed it would be polite to move your perrimeter in a bit.

That makes you sound desperately desperate.... anything else you can throw in on top of stickers to sweeten the deal, nice c4 996 for example.
