Expansion Tank...S2
Discussion
The S parts guide says rover, but to be honest fit anything that looks good. A nice stailess item is pucker.
To be honest the engine on the S came from the Ford range of vehicle so try anything from a Granada/Scorpio to Sierra XR4i/4x4 or Capri. The later the car the better chance it had a expansion tank fitted.

The Steve Heath bible does say something about the water level rasing and falling depending on the demands of the system. I think it expands under pressure a bit even when cold, then the cooling system sucks it back in again, then it allow for expansion when hot. But this may only be so if the radiator cap is on the overflow and not the swirl pot. But as no one can agree which location the cap should be on and it works in different configs on different cars, go for what works.
S seres eh?

Not sure we even need one at all though on the S as it only seems to collect overflow water and can't feed it back into the system.
If it doesnt feed back into the swirl tank then youve got a leak assuming the pressure cap is on the swirl tank but we dont have the bandwidth to restart all that again... either the pressure cap doesnt seal to the top of the swirltank or the low pressure return valve in the cap is siezed...
