Porsche 996 Targa opinions / advice - based N/West + Hartech

Hi,
I am hunting for a Porsche 996, definitely Tiptronic & probably Targa but open to advice opinion. I see alot of admiration on the boards for 993 but I am set on 996 - just interested in views on gearbox and targa Vs. Coupe (not interested in convertible).
Budget is set at £35k.
I may have found a used 2001 car from a private seller with 28000 miles, Full Porsche history & Porsche warranty until August 2006. Last serviced July 2005 - 48000 mile service.
What is a decent price for this car assuming good condition?
My plan would be to purchase the car and transfer the warranty to my name in May 2006. I would then take the car over to Hartech and get all the relevant checks necessary to put the car onto their monthly cover plan as of August 2006. Idea being that if any of the major, non wear and tear checks were failed, I would be covered by the Porsche warranty, could fix it and then come back and be covered by Hartech in the medium - long term.
ADVICE really appreciated as this is a massive and stretching commitment! What ELSE can I / should I do to cover myself from the risk of a private sale? Should I consider extending the Porsche warranty!?

Sounds to em like you've done all the good stuff already... That car sounds ready to go , but I'd do an OPC check on it anyway , in case stuff has come up since it got it's first Porsche warranty.
Going the Harteck route sounds good ... I wish I were living close by him ...
I'd also question the tippy ... Get all that power and then give at least some of it back to the auto ... Not me .. but , hey I don't know sh1t anyway.

cheers for response. Good challenge on the Tiptronic front. To answer the 'why tippy?!' screams I can hear... I haven't made my mind up yet on this and am open to change my mind but reasons as below... what do you reckon?:
1. Seems to be the majority of Targas are Tiptronic. I like the Targa - as the cabin feels alot lighter whatever the weather and that brightens me up and makes me smile. Furthermore, I like the idea of pulling the roof back in the sunshine but without the practicality or Boxster looaklike drawbacks of the convertible. AGAIN - pls. give me opinions / experience if you think I'm mad.
2. Have never had an automatic - just fancy the change a bit.
3. Will use the car daily - most of my commute is country lanes but there are a couple of town sections where it would be nice to be lazy!
On the test drives I have done, I have never pushed the car to its limit and probably never will completely hammer it - although I do plan to enjoy it! Although it sounds a little soft and probably not Porche-purists, I think the power, albeit reduced is still pretty damn impressive!!!
Although.... the coupe with a sunroof could be an option!
Finally - I think I may have sourced a decent deal and the car is a Targa and Tiptronic...
Thoughts???????

Don't worry about losing the 'deal' - there are always more out there. Nearly everybody who has ever bough a Porsche will see an even better deal a week after they part with their cash! Its the way it is. Just see as many cars as you can - you'll get a real idea of what £35k wil get you. Good luck

With regards to the tiptronic point - one of the editors of the 911 mags pointed out that most people would be hard pushed to hit the stated 0-60 time in a manual, wheres the targa is more than likely going to hit it every single time....
