Shame - I've been quite looking forward to this one (although I've always found the Test Drive games somewhat lacking in the handling/realism stakes)...

I think you should give it a little more time, the handling isn't brilliant but wrestling with the mustang was good fun. The sense of freedom in it is great, cutting corners to get ahead of other racers and driving through fields simply because you can.

There are lots of problems with it but it's still good clean fun.

yea i downloaded this yesterday also...

As said it does have problems, for a start mine seems to be freezing a lot (anyone else?)

I would prefer the handling to be like PGR but with the added features such as the massive freedom, buying and exchanging cars and parts with other players etc...

I'd say the full game has a lot of potential, I really enjoyed filling up the garages on PGR so with the 60+ houses or what ever this should be fun, also things like the windows opening and that changing the sound of the car I think make nice extras.

To be fair though it still has a fair way to go in development and I will definitely be picking up the full game.

have to agree.

Went straight for the stang and it was a really good laugh. Plus I like the fact that the cars seem "slower" than PGR3 where all the cars have to be 170mph capable.

Graphics are pretty good and sometimes stunning ,somethimes a little choppy, but im just hoping thats the to be fixed.

I like the free roam idea too. I hope the police cars are proactive too, I couldnt seem to get one to chase me despite smashing into every other car I found.

I managed to get one to chase me, but didn't take long to lose him, hopefully they'll be quite tricky to lose once you get your wanted level up higher though, as on the 1 symbol I had it disappeared quite quickly once i'd taken off down the road.

I don't have broadband and as such can't 'grab it myself' - so please... what is crap about it?

Probably the arcade nature.

I just wish they'd make something like this, but more serious physics and enthusiast gameplay. The work that has gone into the artwork is stunning, yet it'll all be rolled up in an arcadey dog-turd wrap!

I think TDU is bloody brilliant! Don't forget the demo is a pre-beta teaser and is still in development. I can't wait for this one to be released!

you access and download the demo via your xbox 360

it's the "marketplace" section of the xbox live blade

wait, wait, wait!

I'm sure i heard somewhere that Microsoft were offering "gold membership" to all for this week only as it's E3.

In any case, you should be able to download demos with a silver membership?

Unless you mean you dont have a broadband connection/xbox360? In which case= your more screwed than a four poster bed from Ikea called "piuqlea".

No PC demo = naff...

I don't think the new G25 Logitech wheel will work on an XBox360 anyway so won't be bothering buying one of those M$ console jobbies!

Plenty of good games out already for the PC too sooo

I'm not bitter

trust me, your not missing much. the game is shite IMHO.

As an aside, Microsoft have announced a wireless force feedback steering wheel+pedals for the 360. Not sure which manufacturer won the race to wear the official badge though.

perhaps this will tease some of you pc fans to switch to the darkside?

Wireless wheel my bottom. You'll still need power and interconnects for the FFB and pedals and so on. And I doubt it'll match the quality of the new G25.

PC all the way for me still. Can't stand the console junk, with GT4 just being tolerable because it's half way accurate!
