Unleaded or Super?
Discussion
Hi guys,
Being new to this game I am after some advice, again. I have a TVR S3 and need to know if there is any benefit from running it on premium unleaded or will regular do just as well? Aslo I have had the car for three weeks and have yet to find out whether the stereo works, havent felt the want to turn it on.

I would always use premium unleaded from either BP or Shell. Even though the petrol comes from the same refinery, different manufactures add there additives in afterwards. BP & Shell have a good cleaning chemical that’s does clean the engine plus it ran at a higher octane. I used it on my Endurance bikes and it did make a difference. The best stuff is the racing fuel at Silverstone…

I used to have a daily Honda Accord Type-R and found huge differences in power output when i was 'in the zone' and at high revs. That was the first thing to convince me that Optimax was the way to go.
The second thing was when i had my S2 Unichipped at Austec & the insides of the engine were so coked up with soot from cheap 95 ron fuels that Austec couldnt get the best out of it, I blasted loads of fuel cleaner & flush through the system & went back 500 miles later..... then they got another 10hp out of it from being clean.
I also had it tuned (timing set & chip fuelling done) on Optimax so now it performs so well with it, normal unleaded just feels 25hp shy.
I am unhappy at the current cost often being over 100p per litre - but hey ! you pay your money, you take your choice.
By the way there is a new Tesco's fuel available at 99 RON and I beleive BP have a new racing enthusiasts fuel at over 100RON available in London & Milton Keynes at £2.49 a litre. I havnt tried it yet !
